This HSV GTO rolled in fresh from a $7k closed-door respray. Nice on its own, but he was not happy at all wanted the finish to sit on a whole other level. That meant hours of careful sanding, correction, protection, and coating.
Hand Sanding & Paint Correction
We kicked things off with hand sanding the entire car, slowly working through 1500 grit up to 3000 grit to level out the fresh paint. From there, it was straight into machine polishing and refinement. All up, we spent about 80 hours on the full correction process — sanding and polishing included — to bring out that deep, glassy look you just can’t rush.
PPF Where It Matters
Once the paint was dialled in, we shifted focus to protection. Using CNC, we designed and cut templates for splash areas, then carefully installed PPF. That step alone took another 8 hours to get perfect, and it’ll save the car from chips and road rash in the future.
Locking It In With Coating
After the film was down, every inch of paintwork got wiped with isopropyl to make sure it was spotless. Then we laid down a two-layer ceramic coating, giving the GTO that deep gloss with proper long-term durability. The coating stage sat on top of all the correction work, making sure the finish was locked in tight.
The Result
The respray gave the car a fresh start — but the sanding, 80 hours of correction, splash PPF, and double-layer coating turned it into something you’d expect to see on a six-figure showroom floor.
