2024 70 Series Dual Cab Land Cruiser PPF Perth | AutoFX WA O’Connor

2024 Toyota 70 Series Dual Cab Land Cruiser GXL PPF in Perth

AutoFX WA in O’Connor, within the City of Fremantle, completed a full cab paint protection film installation on this 2024 Toyota 70 Series Dual Cab Land Cruiser GXL.

This was not just a basic front-end PPF job.

This Land Cruiser had paint protection film applied to the whole cab, including the rear wall, making it a much more complete protection package for a vehicle that is likely to be used properly. With 70 Series Land Cruisers, especially dual cabs, the paint can be exposed to a lot of punishment from road grime, bush tracks, dust, stone chips, worksite use and general 4WD conditions.

For this job, the goal was to protect the vehicle properly while keeping the finish as clean and factory-looking as possible.

Full Cab PPF Including Rear Wall

The whole cab was protected with PPF, including the rear wall.

That rear wall is often overlooked, but on a dual cab Land Cruiser it still takes exposure from dust, debris and airflow around the tray area. For a vehicle like this, protecting the rear wall makes sense, especially when the owner wants more than just the usual bonnet and front guards covered.

This was a more complete cab protection package, designed to protect the painted areas that are most exposed during real-world use.

Front Headlights And Grille Removed For Cleaner Access

The front headlights and grille were removed to allow better access to the indicators and surrounding sections.

This matters because PPF quality is not just about what you see on the flat areas. It is also about how the film finishes around edges, corners, trims, lights and badges.

By removing parts where needed, we can reduce the number of exposed edges and create a cleaner finish. Less exposed edge usually means a neater look and fewer areas for dirt, polish residue or lifting issues to become a problem later.

On a 70 Series Land Cruiser, this makes a big difference because the front end has plenty of separate sections, joins and edges.

Bonnet PPF Installed In One Piece

The bonnet was protected in one piece with no cuts required.

For this to be done properly, the washer sprayers and wiper arms were removed. This allowed the film to sit more naturally across the bonnet and gave the job a cleaner, more seamless-style finish.

This is the type of detail most people do not notice straight away, but it makes a difference when you look closely.

Instead of cutting around parts and leaving extra edges, removing the washer sprayers and wiper arms allowed the PPF to be installed cleaner across the bonnet area.

Over Fenders And Mirrors Removed

The over fenders and mirrors were also removed for the PPF installation.

Again, the reason was simple: better access, cleaner wrapping where possible, and fewer visible film edges.

On a vehicle like a 70 Series Land Cruiser, the over fenders are a major part of the look of the car. They are also exposed to road grime, stones and general 4WD use. Taking the time to remove parts where needed helped us produce a better result.

The mirrors were also removed so the film could be installed more cleanly around those areas instead of trying to work around tight edges.

Land Cruiser And GXL Badges Removed

The Land Cruiser and GXL badges were removed before PPF was applied.

Badges can create messy edges if film is cut around them. They also make it harder to clean and finish the film properly. Removing them allows for a much cleaner install across the panel, with fewer cut lines and a better overall finish.

This is especially important on a new vehicle where the goal is to protect the paint without making the PPF look obvious.

Snorkel Removed For Better PPF Coverage

The snorkel was also removed.

This gave better access to the panel underneath and allowed the film to be fitted more cleanly around that area. Like the badges, mirrors and over fenders, removing the snorkel was part of the process of reducing unnecessary edges and making the PPF installation look more factory.

It takes more time, but it gives a better result.

Three Weeks During The Middle Of Winter

This job took around three weeks during the middle of winter.

Cold weather makes PPF work slower. Film takes longer to dry, moisture can stay under the film longer, and the material often needs more time to settle properly. Rushing a job like this in winter is not the right approach, especially when there has been this much strip-down work involved.

The extra time allowed us to install the film, check the edges, allow the moisture to clear and make sure the finish was right before handover.

For a full cab PPF job on a 2024 70 Series Dual Cab Land Cruiser, that time is part of doing the job properly.

Why This Type Of PPF Job Matters On A 70 Series Land Cruiser

A 70 Series Land Cruiser is not the type of vehicle people buy just to sit in a garage.

These vehicles are often used for touring, towing, work, camping, off-road driving and long country kilometres. That means the paint is more likely to be exposed to stones, dust, insects, road grime, tree branches and general wear.

Paint protection film helps protect the paint from the type of damage that normal washing or ceramic coating cannot stop.

Ceramic coating can help with gloss, cleaning and environmental protection, but it does not provide the same physical barrier against stone chips and impact damage. PPF is the better option when the goal is physical paint protection.

For this Land Cruiser, protecting the whole cab made sense.

A Cleaner, More Complete PPF Finish

The biggest difference with this job was the amount of preparation and removal work.

Headlights, grille, over fenders, mirrors, badges, wiper arms, washer sprayers and snorkel were removed where needed to help achieve a cleaner result.

That meant fewer exposed edges, less cutting around parts, and a more seamless finish across the vehicle.

This is the type of PPF job that takes time, but on a new 70 Series Dual Cab Land Cruiser, it is worth doing properly.
