Mitchell’s VE SS Wagon Rear Guard Rolling
Mitchell brought his VE SS wagon into AutoFX WA in O’Connor needing the rear guards rolled for extra tyre clearance.
This was a nice straightforward job. The rear guards responded well, the lips rolled up cleanly and we achieved the clearance needed without causing any paint damage.
That might sound simple, but after more than 20 years of guard rolling, we know that every car is different. Previous repairs, paint thickness, filler, age, panel condition and how the inner lip has been formed can all change how a guard behaves once pressure and heat are applied.
No Paint Damage and a Clean Result
On Mitchell’s VE SS wagon, everything worked exactly as we wanted it to.
The paint stayed intact, the rear guard lips rolled neatly and the final result gave the car the extra clearance it needed without making the job more complicated than it had to be.
We always explain that guard rolling carries some risk because nobody can see everything that may have happened to a panel over the life of a car. A perfectly straight-looking quarter panel can still hide an old repair underneath.
Fortunately, this one behaved very well.
Another Happy Customer
The best guard rolling jobs are the ones where the car leaves with the clearance it needed and nothing else has been disturbed.
Mitchell was another happy customer, and this VE SS wagon was one of those jobs where the result came up exactly as planned.
