Cameron’s Porsche GT2 – Paint Correction & Protection

This Porsche GT2 came into our O’Connor workshop for paint correction and paint protection to restore the finish back to its proper level.

Performance cars like this highlight every imperfection, especially under proper lighting. Even light swirls and wash marks can take away from the depth and clarity the paint should have.

The Porsche came in with the usual swirls and light scratches that build up over time from regular washing. This means the paint was far from being at its best and required proper paint correction to restore clarity.

The car needs a lot of polishing to the finest level known by it’s technical detailing term ‘paint correction’.

The correction process took approximately 6 hours using multiple stages of machine polishing. The goal was to refine the paint, remove defects, and restore a deep, wet gloss while preserving as much clear coat as possible.

Paint correction is what creates gloss — not coatings.

Without correcting the surface first, any paint protection applied will only lock in defects. This is why proper preparation is critical before applying ceramic coating or paint protection film.

The glass resin technology coating was then applied panel by panel smoothing out the resin which the end result is an even finish that is a noticeable change of shine even straight after the paint was polished. The coating takes many more hours.

The clean up detail is important and only done right when the correct amount of time is allowed for the job to slowly detail the exterior before handing back the car.

Once completed, the Porsche GT2 had a significantly improved finish with restored depth and clarity, ready for long-term protection.

This is the difference proper paint correction makes before any protection is applied.
