This Mercedes-AMG GT S was an earlier AutoFX WA ceramic coating project in Perth, featuring multiple layers of OPTIX OP888 on the paint and wheels.
At the time, this vehicle was also featured in one of our YouTube videos showing the hydrophobic behaviour of OP888. It remains a good example of AutoFX WA’s long-term involvement with ceramic coating, premium vehicle protection and OPTIX coating technology.
This was not just a quick detail or a simple wash-and-wax job.
The AMG GT S received multiple layers of OPTIX OP888 on the paint and wheels, with the goal of improving gloss, protection and ease of maintenance.
An Earlier AutoFX WA Coating Project
This AMG GT S project goes back to a different period in the ceramic coating industry.
Back then, ceramic coatings were still becoming more widely understood by everyday car owners. A lot of people had heard the term, but many still did not fully understand what a coating could and could not do.
For AutoFX WA, this type of job helped show customers what proper surface preparation and coating application could achieve on a premium vehicle.
The Mercedes-AMG GT S was already a special car, so the goal was not to change the look of the vehicle. The goal was to enhance and protect the finish while keeping the car looking clean, sharp and natural.

OPTIX OP888 was used on this AMG GT S as a multi-layer coating system.
Three layers of OP888 were applied to the paint and wheels. The purpose of this type of coating work was to add gloss, improve slickness and make the vehicle easier to maintain when washed correctly.
Ceramic coating does not make a car scratch-proof or maintenance-free, but it can make a big difference to how the surface behaves.
