Lamborghini Gallardo PPF in O’Connor, Perth

AutoFX WA in O’Connor, within the City of Fremantle, completed paint protection film work on Dean’s Lamborghini Gallardo while he was overseas, giving us the rare advantage of time to get this job finished properly.

This was not a rushed PPF installation.

Dean’s Lamborghini Gallardo was with us for over six weeks, which worked out perfectly for this type of job. When you are working on a car like this, especially with a mix of clear gloss PPF over orange paint and gloss black PPF over the black sections, the finish has to be clean, consistent and worth the car it is being applied to.

The timing also mattered.

This job was done in June, which means the colder weather slowed down the drying time. Paint protection film can take longer to settle in winter, especially around edges, curves, recesses and areas where moisture can stay trapped under the film for longer than expected.

Because Dean was overseas, we were not under pressure to rush the car out the door. That gave us the time to inspect the film properly, allow the moisture and small bubbles to clear, and replace sections where needed.

That is one of the biggest differences between simply installing PPF and actually finishing a PPF job properly.

Clear Gloss PPF Over The Orange Paint

The orange paint on this Lamborghini Gallardo was protected with clear gloss paint protection film.

The goal was simple: protect the original paint without taking away from the colour, gloss or character of the car. On a bright colour like this, the film needs to look clean and natural. It should protect the paint while still allowing the orange finish to stand out the way it should.

This is where preparation, alignment and patience matter.

Supercars have shapes, curves and panel sections that do not always behave like a normal daily driver. You are not just laying film onto flat panels. The material has to be positioned correctly, fitted cleanly and allowed to settle.

With the extended time available, we could keep checking the finish as the film dried and make sure the final result matched the level of the car.

Gloss Black PPF For The Black Sections

The black sections of the Gallardo were protected with gloss black PPF.

This gave those areas a deep, clean, factory-style finish while also adding protection. Black areas on cars often show marks, wash scratches and wear very easily, so gloss black PPF is a practical option when the goal is both appearance and durability.

The contrast between the orange paint, clear gloss PPF and gloss black PPF worked extremely well on this car.

It kept the Lamborghini looking sharp, but still tasteful. Nothing looked overdone. The finish suited the car.

Why This Job Took Over Six Weeks

Some people may hear “six weeks” and think that sounds excessive for PPF.

But in this case, the time helped the result.

The car was here while Dean was overseas, and that meant we could take a slower, more controlled approach. During colder weather, PPF drying time is naturally longer. Moisture pockets, small bubbles and film settling can take more time to clear, especially on complex panels.

Instead of rushing the car out, we had time to:

  • let the PPF dry properly
  • inspect the film after it settled
  • replace sections that were not good enough
  • check the edges and curves
  • make sure the clear and gloss black finishes worked together
  • deliver the car only once we were happy with the result

That extra time made a difference.

It allowed us to treat the job the way a Lamborghini PPF installation should be treated — carefully, patiently and without forcing the finish.

PPF Is Not Just About The Install Day

A big part of quality PPF work happens after the film goes on.

The film needs time to dry, settle and reveal any areas that need attention. This is even more important in winter, when drying time is slower and trapped moisture can take longer to disappear.

On Dean’s Gallardo, having the car for an extended period allowed us to correct small issues before handover instead of hoping they would disappear later.

That is important on a premium car.

The customer should not have to accept a rushed finish just because the job technically looks “done” on the day of installation. A proper PPF job is not only about getting the film onto the car. It is about making sure the final result looks right once the film has had time to settle.

A Finish We Were Genuinely Happy With

Everyone at AutoFX WA was really happy with how this Lamborghini Gallardo came out.

The clear gloss PPF kept the orange paint looking bright and clean, while the gloss black PPF sharpened the darker sections without making the car look modified or overdone.

It was one of those jobs where the final result made sense for the car.

The protection was there, the finish looked right, and the extra time helped us deliver the result properly.

Dean’s Lamborghini Gallardo is a good example of why paint protection film should not always be treated like a quick turnaround service. Some cars deserve more time, more checking and more patience.

This one did.
