This Nissan 180SX Type X came in needing proper clearance work done the right way—no shortcuts, no hacked liners, and no ruined factory lines.
Front guards – rolled, not butchered
The front guards were rolled cleanly, with the plastic liners retained. That meant no trimming, no exposed edges, and no compromise to the factory look or function. This is exactly how it should be done on a car that’s been looked after. We sorted it out with a proper guard rolling – giving the wheels the clearance they need and stopping any more rubbing damage.
No more nasty scrapes, just clean lines and a safer drive.
Rear guards – rolled and pumped 15+ mm
The rear guards needed more work, requiring a roll and pump of 15+ mm while still retaining an OEM-like shape. That’s where experience matters.
On classic Japanese metal, paint damage can happen—and we’re upfront about that. In this case, one corner split paint on the driver’s-side rear. The important part is how it was handled:
- The area was glued, stabilised, and sanded smooth
- The finish is almost unnoticeable in person
- Its location and angle make it virtually invisible unless you’re hunting for it
That’s controlled workmanship—minimising risk, managing outcomes, and finishing properly when things don’t go perfectly.
Wheels, arches & calipers – details matter
While the wheels were off, the owner asked us to go a step further:
- Wheels cleaned off the car
- Wheel arches washed
- Brake calipers thoroughly cleaned
Once the calipers were clean and dry, we made custom white Nissan logos to sit perfectly on the raised lettering. After applying the decals, we finished them with two coats of acrylic clear, giving the black calipers the gloss and depth they deserved while locking everything in.
Interior – OEM satin, not greasy
Inside, the interior was conditioned to an OEM satin finish—clean, supple, and natural. No shine for the sake of shine, just a factory-correct look that suits a well-kept JDM classic.
The result
Danny was over the moon with the outcome. Even though the car was already very clean when it arrived, both he and our team could clearly see:
- Added shine
- A more detailed, refined finish
- That “fresh but not overdone” look
He’s already said he’ll be back regularly with his classic JDM cars.
Our approach
At AutoFX WA, we specialise in making clean cars look better.
We focus on refinement, precision, and detail—taking well-kept vehicles and elevating them further, rather than just masking neglect. It’s a subtle difference, but it’s one our customers immediately notice.
If you care about OEM lines, controlled workmanship, and finishing done properly, this is exactly what we do although outcomes can differ due to risks we can not control. But “This is why experience with 100s and thousands of quality cars matters—reading feedback through feel and sound isn’t something you learn overnight.” Let alone the thousands of cars we’ve jacked up without damage because of our mindset to focus on OH&S. Our advise is don’t book just out of convenience or price. See more here
